Open Stats (short for Open Source Statistical Software and because OSSS or OS3 just sound strange) is a small project I have stated to create software to, hopefully, ease the technical bar for people that want to do statistical research for baseball (baseball here means Major League Baseball (MLB)∞) baseball and football (football here means The National Football League (NFL)∞) stats.

There are a few areas that will be addressed:

• Data Retrosheet CSV Files∞
• Software (CapNKipe, LoadPSVFilesToDB)
• Formulas/Calculations

While not be solely about WikiPedia:Sabermetrics∞, the that subject will be touched.

The first parts of the project will be tools to access the various sources of data that is currently available. That this time those sources are from Retrosheet∞, The Baseball Databank∞, and Pro Football Reference∞.

This project will also try and offer help hints to use the software available on the site as well as search extract information for the data. For an example, look at HowGamesStart.
